Creating music is my passion. No. Scratch that. Is more than a passion. A lifestyle. A calling. Almost equally necessary as breathing oxygen or drinking water (coffee).
I create music for me. Sure I make it available for you, but in no means do I expect you to like it or listen to it. In fact, I don’t even care if anyone ever will listen to it. I like it. I enjoy it, and I listen to it. The purpose of my music is served as it is created. It is the creation itself that is the point. That is what I enjoy. And please don’t get me wrong, of course I will be happy if you like my music. And by all means, enjoy it! And should you not, I hope you find music that suits you and that you like!
The process of creating. Tweaking. Combining sounds, rhythms, harmonies, into compositions, into movement and journey in the three dimensional landscape of sound and music. That is what I enjoy. Exploring that landscape. Being curious of what happens with variations, changes in sound, melody, rhythms or tempo. Curiosity. I believe that is my driving force.
In contrast, mastering an instrument, being able to play it and wield it to astonishing music, that is something entirely different. Sure, I play the piano, guitar, bass. But I do not master or excel in playing these instruments, nor do I have any wish to spend hours on end, practising to be able to wield any of them. Playing music is not my passion, but something I can casually enjoy, but on the level of an amateur, with errors, mistakes and all.
And bridging over to being an artist. Writing and/or creating music, and – most importantly, performing it. Being the centre of attention and entertaining the crowd. Wheater at a local pub or on a stage for millions. That is nothing I’d like, nor strive for. It is simply not for me. I have a big admiration and huge respect for artists and musicians, for all the work they put in doing their thing. But I leave that for others that like to do just that, while I focus on what I like and enjoy. Create music.
This is my path, and I choose to walk it this way.
I hope you find yours, and above all;
Stay curious.
