• First up today, is a new version of a good old song…

All good things (come to an end) – Nelly Furtado

Then some new stuff, with nice synths…

Where did you go – Kaskade

Then I want to put in a good word for electronic music, but in two ways… a tribute to the electronic band Daft Punk, with a group that pays homage to the old Commodore 64 and 8-bit sound:

Doin’ it right – 8-bit Misfits

…and something (for me) completely new:

Never look back – Imelda May

    …and finally a bonus!

    Enjoy!

  • First up is an artist I return to now and then, and have done so throughout the years…

    Killer – Eminem

Then I have to switch over to a genre brother of the above, but in Swedish:

    Förutom dig – Petter

Then something that’s completely new to me:

    Aquatic – Nora En Pure

Then something that ties back to the first two:

Comme Ci, Comme Ca – Timbuktu

…and, perhaps not surprisingly: a Bonus!

    Enjoy!

  • First track, a classic:

    Janie’s got a gun – Aerosmith

And then another classic (in a different way):

    Eple – Röyksopp

Something new (at least to me):

    Change – Laleh

…and some more new stuff (for me):

    Frimärket – Petra Marklund

    …and, as always, a bonus.

    Enjoy!

  • With the passing of Svante Thuresson fresh in my mind, I got stuck on this song title and after listening to it, it had to come along, as today’s first song, even though I don’t see any direct connection between Svante, the artist, or the title… just a little…

Samma dag som Elvis – Pernilla Andersson

Next up is another woman, Annie, who is a new acquaintance to me, but who with the first notes of the intro on this song had captured the synth nerd in me…

    American Cars – Annie

So in my mind, a song came up that I just wanted to listen to, so here it comes to you too… (no, I don’t understand my brain’s connection from the previous to the next either, but that’s how my brain connected anyway…)

In my dreams – Gary Moore

Last out today (before the bonus) will be a revisit to one of my faves, Pentatonix, here in a bit of an exciting collaboration…

    Dreams – Pentatonix

Today’s bonus, that will be difficult, basically impossible to tie this bag together… or?

Well, possibly through this one then?

Today’s bonus: Big in Japan, but maybe not quite as we’re used to hearing it…

    Enjoy!

  • Another week, some new tunes…

…a few weeks ago I was talking about songs that could be heard outside my childhood room… here comes a bunch more that definitely were on heavy rotation:

Rhythm is a dancer – Snap!

    Mr. Vain – Culture Beat

Love is all around – DJ Bobo

In command – Rob n Raz

Don’t you want me – Felix

More and more – Captain Hollywood Project

Ah… oh sweet youth and nostalgia! 😀

This week’s bonus? It will have to be a a big pile of oldies and goldies…

    Enjoy!

  • Last week’s post I ended with a name and a desire to investigate it further. This name leads us to the first song out this week:

End of the road – Dave Fenley

Wow, what a voice, and with that beautiful old song… heart-wrenching!

Today’s second song was an association from today’s first, because Dave’s voice is beautiful and deep and I didn’t know he could sing because I didn’t know him, but someone I do know and didn’t know could sing was one of my childhood action heroes:

    Dark Angel – Steven Seagal

So that it doesn’t just become heavy dad rock, I’m throwing in some nice dad-synth next:

    Delorean Dynamite – Todd Terje

…and then I have to break the old man trend completely with something completely different!

Hair Body Face – Lady Gaga

Yes, and today’s bonus then? Well, it will be a continuation of the break…

    I’m God – Imogen Heap

    Enjoy!

  • Först ut idag, sFirst up today, I stumbled upon this by chance and don’t know anything about it, but it instantly became ear candy for my old synth-loving ears…

Urban city – Irya Gmeyner, Martin Hederos

Next up is a cover that I just felt was a perfect fit – despite a slower tempo than the original. Exciting version!

I just died – DJ Wout

And here comes another new acquaintance for me that I also stumbled upon… yet another delight for my old synth-loving ears!

    Carcow Sunset – Madis

To continue the theme of new acquaintances, here comes something that also feels old, new, fresh and energetic to the max!

    Better tomorrow – Matt Simons

Well, then only the bonus remains… perhaps on the same theme? Well… then I have to look for something to stumble upon… and how did that go? Well, it actually turned out to be three candidates for today’s bonus:

    Candidate 1

    Candidate 2

    Candidate 3

All previously unknown versions of well-known songs for me… and the winner of today’s bonus song? Well, I can say this, Dave Fenley is a name I feel I want to investigate further!

    Enjoy!

  • This week’s post starts with an old childhood hero who’s still around, now in a collaboration:

Bara för bra – Petter och Myra Granberg

Continuing with some more Swedish, one that doesn’t normally make it onto my playlists, but this one stuck with me:

Nån annan nu – Molly Sandén

The Swedish trend in this week’s post isn’t broken yet, so here’s another Swede and again someone who doesn’t usually make it onto my playlists, at least not since Euphoria!

    Sötvattenstårar – Loreen

Now, time for something other than Swedish! A nice acoustic version of an old song, but oh so nice! Still holds up, especially in this version!

Never be the same again – Melanie C

So, no post without a bonus! What will this week’s bonus be?

    Well, this!

    Enjoy!

  • Well, last week was guitar-heavy, and this week also starts with guitar, but significantly calmer! 🙂

Song for the tankful – Avi Kaplan

Next up is a cool dude I’ve been following for several years, a multifaceted man who succeeds at most things he takes on:

Bars från ett B-barn – Timbuktu

Then I think it’s time to raise the energy level and pick up the pace a bit, and release some nice synths:

    Forever – De:crypt

Then comes a woman who appeared on my radar a few years ago, and she has done everything from covers to her own songs and collaborated with others. This is, as I understand it, an original song:

On your own – Julia Westin

….and what would a weekly post be without a bonus? Well, not as much of a weekly post as it usually is, so therefore, according to tradition; a bonus!

    Enjoy!

  • As Easter is fading out, the egg hunts are winding down, and the last pieces of candy are rattling around at the bottom of the Easter egg, I feel it’s time for some nice “dad rock”… or rather, some nice heavy guitar riffs…

First up today is The Well from some kind of Roman general with aspirations to the throne…

Then comes a really long, slow, nice heavy riff song, The Answer, by Kirk, but not Captain Kirk of the Enterprise, but a completely different Kirk.

Next up is a woman, Elles who perhaps (based entirely on the song title) would rather seek more traditional care than go to the city hospital.

Fourth out is also a woman (or rather two), one who has been featured before, but in a completely different context, Larkin Poe – heavy! 🙂

…and what would a Monday be without a bonus? 😉

…and this particular Monday there will also be a bonus bonus!

    Enjoy!
